Electricity prices in Pakistan are likely to decline by 72 paisa per unit under the monthly fuel adjustment mechanism, as the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority takes up a petition filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency on Tuesday.
According to CPPA data, distribution companies were supplied with 7.813 billion units of electricity in November, with the average cost of generation recorded at Rs. 6.16 per unit. The proposed reduction will apply to consumers after approval by the regulator.
The fuel mix during November showed that 39.16 percent of electricity was generated from hydropower, followed by 25.23 percent from nuclear fuel. Local coal contributed 9.34 percent, imported coal 5.06 percent, gas 8.44 percent and imported LNG 8.64 percent of total power generation.
If approved by NEPRA, the reduction will provide relief to consumers amid already high electricity bills.

Relief is when the price falls down by PKR 8-10. Shocking to see a headline where the price reduction is negligible. Plz set higher standards for Journalism
Apart from electricity GOVT., should focus on SSGC tabulation of GAS rats also. I used to get bill around Rs.1000/- per month, n9w due to high slab system I recvd bill for Dec @ Rs. 8,500.
Its brutulality must be reviewed.
Plz also mention your gas usage for both bills (Rs 1000 and Rs 8500). Then brutality is decided.

Honest government and machinary to plan and facilitate opportunities for business progress are badly needed.
Slabs in taxation in billings should be elevated as zukat is equally implimented on different classes of people with equal ratio.
Only business activity and industrial production can give emplyment to our youth.
Decrease in government expense will also help in this direction.
Most important responsibility must come with accountability.
