The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during New Year’s Eve celebrations in the federal capital.
According to officials, over 350 traffic officers and personnel will be deployed at major roads and key locations across Islamabad to regulate traffic and maintain order.
As part of the plan, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city will remain completely banned from 7:00 pm on December 31 to 3:00 am.
The traffic police warned of possible congestion on key arteries, including Islamabad Expressway, Jinnah Avenue, Srinagar Highway, Club Road, Murree Road, and Park Road.
Increased traffic pressure is also expected at sensitive points such as Jinnah Avenue Flyover, Zero Point, Khanna, and the PWD underpass.
To curb one-wheeling, reckless driving, and hooliganism, authorities have formed eight special enforcement squads. Officials said they will take strict legal action against car skating and dangerous driving.
The police also urged parents to prevent underage driving during the celebrations.
The ITP will deploy special traffic contingents at recreational and entertainment spots and advise citizens to use alternative routes between 7:00 pm and 3:00 am.
Authorities also banned roadside parking during this period to prevent congestion and ensure public safety.
