Islamabad Changes Deadline for M-Tag Registration

The Islamabad administration has revised the deadline for mandatory M-Tag registration, granting motorists additional time to comply with the requirement.

According to a notification issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, vehicle owners now have until January 15, 2026, to install M-Tags.

Earlier, authorities had announced that enforcement against vehicles without M-Tags would begin on January 1, urging residents to complete registration promptly.

The extension has been provided to accommodate citizens who have yet to complete the process and to ease pressure on registration facilities.

Officials have once again advised motorists to visit the M-Tag registration center at Shakarparian Parade Ground as soon as possible, warning that registration centers typically face heavy footfall as deadlines approach. To manage the expected rush, the administration has strengthened arrangements at the facility by setting up additional counters and deploying extra staff to speed up processing.

The Islamabad administration said the M-Tag system is being implemented to regulate vehicle entry and improve traffic management across the capital.

Once enforcement begins, vehicles without valid M-Tags will be restricted from entering designated areas, and action will be taken against violators.

Authorities urged citizens not to wait until the final days, cautioning that despite improved facilities, large crowds could still lead to delays. Vehicle owners have also been advised to bring all required documents to ensure smooth and timely registration.
