Traffic Plan Announced for New Year’s Eve in Rawalpindi

The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has finalized a comprehensive traffic plan for New Year’s Eve to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow across the city.

A CTP spokesperson said authorities have deployed more than 600 traffic personnel and formed seven special squads to prevent one-wheeling, racing, car skidding, and other forms of reckless driving.

The squads will remain active on major roads, including Mall Road, Peshawar Road, Bank Road, Jhelum Road, Old Airport Road, Murree Road, and Sixth Road.

Officials will also deploy additional traffic personnel at churches, parks, and recreational areas to manage traffic during religious and public gatherings.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam directed circle and sector in-charges to ensure close coordination and maintain strict surveillance of vehicles with tinted windows, unregistered vehicles, and those with missing or irregular number plates. He warned that authorities would take strict legal action against violators.

In a video message, the CTO said authorities would not allow one-wheeling under any circumstances and would take strict legal action against those involved. He also warned against harassing families, engaging in disorderly behavior, or creating public disturbances, saying the law would treat such acts as criminal offenses.

The CTO announced a complete ban on unauthorized modifications to motorcycles, including cylinder removal. He said authorities are monitoring workshops and will arrest those involved in illegal alterations.

He urged parents to closely monitor their children during New Year’s celebrations and avoid allowing minors to ride motorcycles or drive vehicles. He also appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly and observe traffic laws.
