The Hyderabad administration has imposed a 90-day ban on kite flying under Section 144, effective from January 1 to March 31, officials announced.
According to Hyderabad Commissioner Fayaz Abbasi, the ban covers kite flying, kite making, sale, and storage of kites and kite strings across the district.
An official notification stated that from January 1 to March 31, kite flying will be prohibited at all public and private places.
The order also bans the purchase, sale, manufacture, and stockpiling of kites and strings, and disallows any gatherings or activities related to kite flying.
The notification warned that in case of violations, the station house officer (SHO) of the relevant police station will be authorised to take action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Commissioner Fayaz Abbasi said that the use of chemical-coated and metallic kite strings poses a serious threat to human lives, which prompted the imposition of the ban.
