Karachi Approves Rs. 4.2 Billion to Upgrade Four Major Roads

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has approved a Rs. 4.2 billion plan to rehabilitate and beautify four major traffic corridors across the city.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab approved the project during a meeting at the KMC head office. The plan covers Rashid Minhas Road, S.M. Taufique Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, and Pehalwan Goth Road, which serve as key traffic arteries in the metropolis.

Under the approved allocation, KMC will spend Rs. 1.12 billion on Rashid Minhas Road, Rs. 429 million on S.M. Taufique Road, Rs. 574 million on Sir Shah Suleman Road, and Rs. 1.9 billion on Pehalwan Goth Road.

Officials said the project includes full rehabilitation of the selected roads, resolution of sewerage issues, improved lane markings, and upgraded traffic layouts. The plan also includes the development of green belts along these corridors.

Mayor Wahab directed KMC officials to float tenders immediately to ensure timely execution of the project.

  • When you repair a damaged road, dig it and then do carpetting at the same level as the dug up previous road. Laying 6-8 inches of material on top of old road makes nearby house plinth level below the new road causing rain water to accumulate in the houses.
