Police in Karachi have launched a major investigation after four bodies, two women, a man, and a child, were found dumped in a manhole near the Mai Kolachi area.
According to South Zone Deputy Inspector General Asad Raza, the remains appeared to be between 10 and 15 days old. The bodies were moved to a hospital for post-mortem examinations and medico‑legal procedures to help determine the cause and exact time of death.
Officers involved in the investigation said preliminary findings point towards torture, with visible injuries on the victims and bloodstains discovered inside the manhole, suggesting they may have been killed elsewhere and disposed of at the site.
Police have begun efforts to establish the victims’ identities, with SSP Keamari noting that the bodies were badly mutilated, making the process more difficult.
The gruesome discovery prompted immediate reaction from the provincial leadership. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and directed police and other relevant agencies to probe the case from every angle and identify those responsible.
He vowed that the government would ensure justice for the families, stressing that safeguarding citizens’ lives and property is the state’s foremost obligation.
Separately, the Sindh home minister demanded a comprehensive report from the SSP Keamari, instructing officials to determine the motives and circumstances behind the killings. He further ordered that the culprits be traced, arrested without delay, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
