2025 Was The Worst Year of Internet Outages in Pakistan

Pakistan experienced its worst year for internet connectivity in 2025, with a total of 68 internet outages recorded across the country, sources told ProPakistani.

These disruptions lasted for approximately 900 hours, or nearly 38 days, over the course of the year, severely impacting users nationwide, sources added.

Sources in the Industry attributed the outages primarily to regulatory restrictions and backbone issues faced by upstream providers, including faults in submarine cables.

Most recently, over the weekend, major internet service providers (ISPs) faced a day-long nationwide outage, once again disrupting connectivity across the country.

The most severe disruption occurred in March 2025, when regulatory restrictions resulted in significantly slowed internet speeds nationwide. The issue persisted for approximately 13 days, making it the longest single connectivity problem recorded during the year.

The second major issue was related to faults in submarine cables, which caused internet disruptions for about a week in September 2025.
