British-Pakistani Student Files Lawsuit Against London School of Economics

A British Pakistani student, Rehaab Sheikh, has filed a lawsuit against the London School of Economics (LSE), alleging that incorrect marking by the university prevented her from pursuing an MPhil at Cambridge University.

Rehaab Sheikh stated that the case was filed after she was unable to secure admission to the Cambridge MPhil program due to her academic results.

According to her account, her dissertation was assessed in 2023 during a boycott, resulting in it being reviewed by only one examiner, who awarded her 57 marks.

She further explained that following a review process, her marks were later increased to 72. However, by that time, she had already lost the opportunity to apply for or secure admission to the Cambridge program.

Rehaab Sheikh said that the purpose of the lawsuit is to have the university formally acknowledge its mistake and to seek compensation for the loss caused by the incorrect grading.

It is noteworthy that Rehaab Sheikh is a British national of Pakistani origin and is currently serving in a senior position within a UK government ministry.
