Bangladesh’s national flag carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, is set to resume direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi later this month, restoring a route that has remained suspended since 2012.
According to the airline’s announced schedule, the Dhaka–Karachi–Dhaka service will begin on January 29, 2026. Flights from Dhaka to Karachi will operate twice a week, departing at 8:00 pm and arriving at 11:00 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays. The return flights from Karachi to Dhaka will depart at 12:01 am and arrive at 4:20 am, operating on Fridays and Sundays.
The resumption of the route comes amid improving ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh after a prolonged period of strained relations. Bilateral engagement has increased since political changes in Bangladesh in 2024, creating momentum for the restoration of suspended air links.
Plans to restart direct flights were first announced in August last year during the visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Dhaka. The visit marked the first high-level diplomatic engagement between the two countries in more than a decade.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines shared the flight schedule along with booking and contact details through its official channels, confirming the return of regular air connectivity between Dhaka and Karachi.
