A sessions court has sentenced an SHO and nine other police officials to seven years in prison after finding them guilty in a fake police encounter case.
During the hearing, the court also imposed a fine of Rs1 million on the SHO of B-Section Police Station, while an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was fined Rs100,000. The remaining officials were also awarded seven-year imprisonment.
According to police, all the convicted officers fled the courtroom after the verdict was announced. Authorities said they will arrest the absconding officials soon.
The case dates back to 2022, when police officials allegedly killed a man in a staged encounter. The victim’s mother filed the case against the B-Section police personnel, leading to the prosecution and eventual conviction.
