Latest World Test Championship Table After Australia Seal the Ashes at SCG

Australia sealed a 4–1 Ashes series win by chasing down a tricky 160-run target at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), though not without a late wobble.

After looking comfortable early at 62 without loss, Australia’s chase became messy as England triggered a collapse, with the hosts losing five wickets for 59 runs.

The game was steadied and finished by Alex Carey and Cameron Green, who added a crucial 40-run partnership to secure a five-wicket victory in what was described as the most dramatic and best match of an otherwise underwhelming series.

The final day carried added emotion for Usman Khawaja, as he played his last Test. He walked in to bat at 92 for 3, received a guard of honor from England, but his farewell innings ended quickly, with 6 runs off 7 balls, when Josh Tongue bowled him and completed his figures at 3 for 42.

England’s hopes of a late steal were further limited by captain Ben Stokes, who could field but could not bowl due to a right adductor injury.

Earlier, England stretched their lead through Jacob Bethell, who reached 150 and battled on until Mitchell Starc removed him. England briefly pushed the lead past 150, but Starc struck again to help keep the target manageable.

Despite flashpoints, review drama, and a few chaotic moments in the chase, Australia had enough composure and match-winners, especially Carey, Green, Travis Head, and Starc, to close out the series convincingly.
