New Owners Tease Franchise Name for PSL Team From Hyderabad

FKS has confirmed that its newly acquired Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise will be based in Hyderabad.

The confirmation came shortly after FKS secured Team 7 with a winning bid of Rs. 175 crore in the PSL auction held in Islamabad. The move officially brings Hyderabad into the league as the second city from Sindh after Karachi Kings.

Responding to questions about the team’s identity, Fawad Sarwar of FKS Group said the franchise name has already been finalized. However, he declined to disclose it at this stage.

He added that the full name of the Hyderabad-based team will be announced during an official ceremony. The event is expected to take place at a later date, with league officials and stakeholders in attendance.

The addition of a Hyderabad team strengthens the footprint of the Pakistan Super League and supports the league’s broader expansion strategy. It also marks the return of top-tier cricket representation for the city at a national level.

With one new team awarded, the race for the eighth and final franchise will continue among the remaining bidders. Successful buyers can choose a home city from a PCB-approved shortlist that includes Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit.

The PSL 11 will begin on March 26 and will end on May 3.
