A robbery took place in Karachi’s Bahadurabad area after two newly hired domestic workers allegedly stole a large quantity of gold and fled the house, according to a police report cited by a local television channel on Thursday.
Police registered a first information report at Bahadurabad Police Station on the complaint of Ahmad Yousuf Bambia, a construction company owner who lives in Muhammad Ali Society.
In his statement, Bambia said he hired two women, identified as Nadia and Dilshad, on January 5 based on a reference provided by the building’s watchman. He said the watchman told him the women were sisters-in-law and trustworthy.
Bambia stated that both women reported for work on January 7 at around 1:45 pm and left the house at approximately 6 pm. Shortly afterward, family members returned home from visiting relatives and noticed that the maids were no longer there.
He said his wife found jewelry boxes scattered on the floor and discovered that the cupboard lock had been broken. The family later confirmed that several gold items, including jewelry sets, bangles, rings, and karas, were missing.
The stolen gold reportedly exceeded 100 tolas. Police have registered a case and started an investigation to trace and arrest the suspects.
