WhatsApp has rolled out three new features aimed at making group chats more useful and organized. The update introduces member tags, text-based stickers, and event reminders, all of which are available starting today.
The first new feature is Member tags. This allows users to assign themselves a role or identifier within a group chat. The tag can be customized for each group, allowing users to display different roles depending on the group’s context. The feature is designed to help members quickly understand who is responsible for what within larger or more active groups.
WhatsApp is also expanding its sticker functionality with text stickers. Users can now turn any word or phrase into a sticker by typing the text into the Sticker Search feature. Once created, these stickers can be added directly to personal sticker packs without needing to send them in a chat first. This makes it easier to create and reuse custom stickers on the fly.
The third feature focuses on event planning. When users create and share an event in a group chat, they can now set custom early reminders for invited participants. The goal is to reduce missed events by giving members timely notifications ahead of scheduled activities.
