Karachi residents have received major relief as the district administration has eliminated illegally charged parking in Saddar, one of the city’s busiest commercial hubs.
Assistant Commissioner General Hazim Bhangwar led a large-scale operation against unauthorized parking and fee collection in areas including Saddar Mobile Market, Cooperative Market, Abdullah Haroon Road, and outside Zainab Market.
During the crackdown, authorities seized several motorcycles and took action against the illegal parking mafia.
Teams from the Anti-Encroachment Police, the Deputy Director of Anti-Encroachment, and other relevant departments participated in the operation.
The district administration said that 24 individuals involved in illegal parking operations have been arrested over the past four days, and FIRs have been registered against them.
In a parallel anti-encroachment drive, officials sealed more than 300 shops and hotels, while cases were registered against 12 individuals for violations.
Sources said members of the parking and encroachment mafias fled the area after shutting down their businesses as soon as enforcement teams arrived.
Authorities have vowed to continue the operation to ensure free movement, lawful parking, and relief for citizens in Saddar and adjoining localities.
