The Lahore High Court has issued notices to the Punjab government on a petition challenging the killing of stray dogs through shooting and poisoning.
Notices were also sent to the Secretary of Livestock, the Secretary of Local Government, and other relevant authorities, seeking their responses on the matter.
According to the petitioner, operations carried out in the name of controlling stray dogs have placed citizens’ lives at serious risk.
The petition states that firing weapons and using poisonous substances in residential areas is extremely dangerous and could lead to the loss of human life.
The petitioner argued that such practices pose a threat to public safety and should not be carried out in populated areas.
The petition requests the court to immediately stop the killing of stray dogs through shooting and poisoning.
It also urges the court to direct authorities to adopt a vaccination and neutering policy as a safer and more humane approach to managing stray dogs.

Hoping the dogs bite the petitioner once so that he gets a feeling of how humans feel when bitten by the stray dogs.
