Hafizabad Police, with the assistance of Interpol, have arrested a proclaimed offender in a murder case after 26 years during a joint international operation.
According to officials, the Special Operation Cell of Hafizabad Police formally approached Interpol, following which a red warrant was issued against the accused, leading to his arrest.
The suspect, Ali Muhammad alias Shafqat, was arrested in Muscat, Oman. He was wanted in connection with the murder of a citizen, Allah Ditta, which took place in the year 2000.
After committing the crime, the suspect fled abroad to evade arrest and remained beyond the reach of law enforcement agencies for more than two decades.
Police officials stated that the arrest was made possible through sustained efforts, coordinated intelligence gathering, and effective international cooperation.
The District Police Officer (DPO) said the successful international operation reflects the professional competence and commitment of the Hafizabad Police. Officials added that due to these professional efforts, the proclaimed offender has now been brought before the law.
Under the leadership of the District Police Officer of Hafizabad, a strict zero-tolerance policy against criminal elements continues to be enforced to ensure that proclaimed offenders and suspects involved in serious cases are arrested and punished according to the law.
