The Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on tree cutting and pruning across Lahore following official directives.
The Lahore Horticulture Agency stated that unauthorized cutting of any tree is strictly prohibited and clarified that pruning will not be allowed without prior written permission.
According to the notification, protecting trees is essential for environmental conservation and the promotion of urban greenery.
Managing Director of the Horticulture Agency, Raja Mansoor Ahmed, has instructed all concerned staff and directors to remain alert and ensure strict compliance with the orders.
The agency has warned that legal action will be taken against individuals who violate the instructions.
The decision follows remarks made by the Lahore High Court on Friday, where the court warned of possible cases against officials of the Parks and Horticulture Authority over the reported cutting of trees on Canal Road last week.
The court had also expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of a formal ban on tree cutting.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has decided to establish a Nursing Centre of Excellence in Rawalpindi.
The Punjab Health Department has formally approached the federal government to seek possession and transfer of the Federal TB Centre land to the province.
Once possession is granted, the existing building will be demolished and construction of the Nursing Centre of Excellence will begin immediately with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank.
