The federal government has decided to draft a new policy to address problems faced by applicants during the visa process.
To this end, the federal cabinet has formed a cabinet committee on the visa clearance regime and appointed Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar as its chair.
The six-member committee will develop recommendations to make the visa process simpler, more transparent, and more secure. It will submit its report to the federal cabinet within 14 days.
According to government sources, the committee includes the federal ministers for interior, finance, and climate change, along with the federal secretaries of law and interior. The Interior Ministry will provide secretarial support to the committee.
The government recently approved a new visa clearance system as part of broader reforms to Pakistan’s visa and travel clearance framework. The reforms aim to improve transparency, security, and efficiency for Pakistani citizens seeking visas abroad.
Officials said the decision comes amid concerns over illegal migration, the use of counterfeit travel documents, and stricter immigration laws imposed by several countries.
