Pakistan Railways Recover Land Worth Rs. 11.39 Billion

The Pakistan Railways (PR) Police recovered 506 acres of illegally occupied railway land worth Rs11.39 billion during 2025 and registered 1,049 cases against land mafia, arresting 1,099 suspects.

The performance details emerged during a meeting of divisional superintendents of police (SPs) from Lahore, Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar, chaired by PR Police Inspector General Rai Tahir at the Central Police Office.

During the meeting, divisional SPs briefed the IG on law and order, passenger and train security, crime control, and anti-encroachment operations.

The PR Police registered 3,681 cases for various offences and arrested 4,197 suspects across the country.

In operations against theft of railway material, police registered 493 cases, arrested 677 suspects, and recovered stolen goods worth Rs9.4 million.

In addition, 68 cases related to illegal arms smuggling were registered, leading to the arrest of 72 suspects and recovery of weapons and ammunition, including Kalashnikovs, rifles, pistols, and nearly 2,000 bullets.

The PR Police also cracked down on narcotics smuggling through trains, registering 218 cases and arresting 218 individuals.

Authorities recovered large quantities of drugs, including heroin, charas, opium, ice, bhang, and liquor.

Furthermore, police recovered 413 runaway boys and 245 girls and reunited them with their families. Lost goods worth Rs33.4 million were also recovered and returned to passengers.
