Asus has officially confirmed that it is moving away from the smartphone business, following earlier reports that suggested the company would not launch any new phones this year.
Asus chairman Jonney Shih confirmed that the company is not planning any new smartphone releases. He made the statement during a special event gala held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.
According to reports, Asus will redirect its resources and research and development efforts toward commercial PCs and physical AI, including robotics and smart glasses. The company said it will continue to provide maintenance, software updates, and warranty services for existing smartphone users.
Shih said Asus generated TWD 738.91 billion ($23.4 billion) in revenue in 2025, representing a 26% increase compared to 2024. He added that the company’s AI server business recorded 100% growth, doubling its own target during the year.
In recent years, Asus gradually scaled back its smartphone lineup. The company reduced its Zenfone series and limited releases under the ROG Phone brand.
Asus launched only two smartphones in 2025 — the ROG Phone 9 FE and the Zenfone 12 Ultra — and reports indicated that neither device performed strongly in sales.
