Pakistan Posts Highest-Ever Monthly IT Exports of Over $400 Million

Pakistan’s IT sector maintained sustainable export growth and recorded its highest-ever monthly exports of over $400 million for the first time.

Previously, the highest monthly exports stood at $386 million in October 2025.

According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), IT exports increased to $437 million in December 2025, compared to $348 million in the same month last year, showing a 25 percent, or $89 million, year-on-year increase. Exports also posted over 22 percent growth compared to inflows of $356 million recorded in the preceding month of November 2025.

Dr Noman Said, an IT exporter, said that consistent government policies have helped maintain sustainable export growth, which is likely to continue through the joint efforts of the government and the private sector.

He added that IT companies are now exploring new markets, particularly in Gulf countries, while enhancing exports of emerging technologies in traditional markets to scale up overall export volumes. This momentum is expected to reflect further export growth in the coming months.

During the first half of the financial year, IT sector exports surged to $2.23 billion, compared to $1.86 billion recorded in the same period from July to December last year, reflecting a 19.5 percent year-on-year increase.

Chairman Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) Ibrahim Amin said the role of freelancers is vital in bringing IT remittances into the country. He noted that with training being provided across the country by public-sector institutions and NGOs, the number of freelancers and their contribution to the economy are steadily increasing.

With six months remaining in the financial year, the IT sector may achieve exports of $4.2 billion to $4.5 billion if the current pace continues.
