Punjab on High Alert as PDMA Warns of Heavy Rainfall

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for expected rains in most districts of Punjab from today until January 23.

According to the Director General of PDMA, rain is also likely in Lahore along with other parts of the province. In view of the forecast, all concerned departments have been directed to remain on high alert.

DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia, following the instructions of the Chief Minister, ordered authorities to complete all necessary arrangements in advance. He directed that emergency control rooms remain operational round the clock with fully alert staff.

Rescue 1122 disaster response teams have also been placed on high alert to deal with any emergency situation arising from heavy rainfall.

The PDMA chief urged citizens to follow issued safety guidelines and avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather conditions.

In case of any emergency, residents have been advised to immediately contact the PDMA Punjab helpline at 1129.
