Water Supply Suspended in Karachi Areas Due to Maintenance Work

Residents of District West and Keamari in Karachi will face a temporary disruption in water supply on Tuesday as the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) installs a new control gate at the Hub Canal reservoir.

A KW&SC spokesperson said the Hub Pumping Station will remain shut from 8 am to 10 pm during the installation process. Hydrants at Crush Plant I and II will also stay closed for maintenance.

Due to the shutdown, Karachi is expected to experience a shortfall of around 50 million gallons of water for the day. The city normally receives about 650 million gallons daily, but officials said approximately 600 million gallons will continue to be supplied.

KW&SC officials explained that the existing control gate at the canal had been causing repeated disruptions, making its replacement necessary. They said the installation of the new gate will help improve the stability and reliability of the city’s water supply system.

Authorities have advised residents to use water carefully during the maintenance period. The corporation described the temporary inconvenience as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade Karachi’s water infrastructure and ensure a more dependable supply in the future.
