Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has suspended the installation of solar green meters following directives from the Ministry of Energy.
According to LESCO officials, thousands of consumers will be affected by the ban. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had previously approved the installation of these meters, but the Energy Ministry’s orders have now put the process on hold.
Officials said they are bound to follow the ministry’s instructions, and the ban on installing solar green meters could remain in effect for one to two months.
The suspension applies to both residential and industrial consumers. LESCO confirmed that new meters will only be installed once the ministry issues a revised solar green meter policy.
Officials also noted that all other distribution companies have halted the issuance of solar connections until further notice.
