The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) intensified its crackdown on tax evaders Tuesday, sealing eight restaurants and food outlets and warning several others for failing to pay service taxes.
PRA teams inspected and audited sales records at 31 locations across the province, targeting sales tax evasion, record tampering, and violations of tax laws.
During the operation, officers seized sales records from eight restaurants and food outlets. They issued formal notices to 17 establishments for non-compliance and warned six marquees and wedding halls for not using the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS).
The PRA carried out the enforcement drive in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Multan. Officials said they acted after prior notices and clear evidence of evasion and record manipulation.
Authorities emphasized that public taxes represent a government trust and must be paid transparently and on time. They urged consumers to always request e-bills to support compliance and accountability.
