Possible revisions to local player categories have emerged ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 players’ auction, Geo News reported on Wednesday.
The historic 11th edition of the PSL is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, with two new teams, Hyderabad and Sialkot, set to join the tournament.
According to sources, Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, and Naseem Shah are expected to remain in the Platinum category. Sahibzada Farhan is likely to be placed in the Gold category, while Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Nawaz are expected to move up from Diamond to Platinum.
Wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan is likely to be downgraded from Diamond to Gold.
For Karachi Kings, Hasan Ali is expected to be promoted from Diamond to Platinum, while Abbas Afridi is likely to move down from Platinum to Diamond. Khushdil Shah and Aamer Jamal are expected to drop from Diamond to Gold, and Arafat Minhas is likely to move from Gold to Silver. Shan Masood is expected to remain in the Diamond category.
Sources further stated that Lahore Qalandars’ Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Haris Rauf will retain their Platinum status. Salman Mirza is expected to move up from Gold to Diamond, while Mohammad Naeem is likely to be promoted from Emerging to Silver.
For Peshawar Zalmi, Babar Azam and Saim Ayub are expected to remain in the Platinum category. Meanwhile, Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Ali are likely to drop from Diamond to Gold.
Multan Sultans Mohammad Rizwan is set to retain his Platinum status, while Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed are expected to move from Platinum to Diamond. Mohammad Hasnain is likely to drop from Diamond to Gold, whereas Akeef Javed is expected to be promoted from Silver to Gold.
In Quetta Gladiators, Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Amir are expected to remain in the Platinum category, while Abrar Ahmed is likely to be promoted from Diamond to Platinum. Wasim Junior is expected to move from Gold to Diamond, and Usman Tariq is likely to be promoted from Silver to Diamond.
Additionally, Khawaja Nafay and Hasan Nawaz are expected to move up from Silver and Emerging to Gold, respectively.
