The upcoming Xiaomi 18 could feature a periscope telephoto camera, according to a new leak shared by Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo.
The leaker said the Xiaomi 18 is likely to use the same 50MP f/3.0 periscope telephoto camera found on the Xiaomi 17 Pro, offering 5x optical zoom.
According to the leak, the Xiaomi 18 will also include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, support wireless charging, and feature high-level dust and water resistance. Specific certification details were not mentioned.
The device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. However, it remains unclear which variant Xiaomi will choose. Rumors suggest Qualcomm may offer both a standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
The leaker indicated Xiaomi may opt for the standard version of the chipset for the base Xiaomi 18 to help balance rising RAM costs.
No additional specifications for the Xiaomi 18 have surfaced so far. The smartphone is expected to be unveiled around September, though Xiaomi has not confirmed an official launch date.
