The federal government has approved the appointment of a Grade 22 senior officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, Rashid Mahmood Langrial, as a member of the board of Pak Arab Refinery Limited.
The decision follows Rashid Mahmood Langrial’s nomination to replace Momin Agha on the PARCO board. The appointment has been formally approved by the government.
Rashid Mahmood Langrial is currently serving as Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, a position that carries significant influence over taxation and revenue matters.
Momin Agha, who previously served as Secretary Petroleum, was earlier removed from his government post. He had been serving as Chairman of the PARCO Board before this change.
According to sources, PARCO board members receive their meeting fees in dollars for each board meeting. Board members are also provided with return air tickets to Dubai, along with accommodation, for attending board meetings.
Sources further say that tax cases worth billions of rupees involving PARCO are currently pending with the Federal Board of Revenue, raising questions due to the FBR chairman’s presence on the board.
Other members of the PARCO board include Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal, Dr. Jahanzeb, and Ahad Cheema.
