The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has announced a fixed annual schedule for the registration and renewal of private educational institutions in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
Under the new mechanism, all private educational institutions will be required to apply for renewal of registration between March 1 and April 30 each year.
PEIRA will process renewal applications by June 30, while inspections, where required, will be conducted during May and June.
Institutions seeking new registration may submit applications throughout the year. However, approvals for new registrations will only be granted up to April 30, according to the authority.
PEIRA has also approved an optional extension of the renewal period from two years to three years, subject to advance payment of annual renewal fees for the full period and compliance with regulatory requirements prescribed under the 2024 rules.
The authority stated that necessary amendments have been made to prevent regulatory fee losses and to ensure alignment of the revised schedule with stakeholder interests.
These decisions were taken under the powers granted by the Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2013.
