An eight-year-old girl was injured after being attacked by a pet lioness in Bhekay Wal Pind, Lahore, police said on Wednesday.
According to police officials, the child sustained injuries to her ear, neck, and leg and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police revealed that a resident was illegally keeping a lioness at his home. Following the incident, police and wildlife department teams rushed to the scene.
A spokesperson for the DIG Operations said that the suspects fled the area with the lioness after the attack. Raids are currently underway to arrest the owner, and authorities have assured that the suspects will be apprehended soon.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the illegal keeping of wild animals in residential areas.
