Murree Police Issue 10-Point Travel Advisory for Tourists

Murree Police on Thursday issued a 10-point traffic and travel advisory as heavy snowfall and possible blizzard conditions are expected in the hill station, advising tourists to avoid unnecessary travel.

District Police Officer Murree Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer Sipra said police teams have gone on high alert to ensure public safety and keep traffic moving, but warned that public cooperation remains critical as severe weather is forecast from Thursday evening.

The advisory urges travelers to postpone non-essential trips to Murree during the bad weather spell. Those who must travel have been asked to prepare their vehicles for winter conditions, including fitting snow chains and keeping fuel tanks full to manage delays.

Police advised motorists to use vehicle heaters cautiously during prolonged stoppages and keep windows slightly open to prevent carbon monoxide buildup. Drivers must reduce speed, maintain safe distances, and avoid night travel due to low visibility and icy roads.

The advisory also prohibits parking on main roads or steep slopes and instructs visitors to use designated parking areas only. Motorists have been told to use headlights in foggy conditions and reserve hazard lights for emergencies.

Police urged tourists to follow traffic wardens’ instructions, cooperate at checkpoints, and check weather and road updates before traveling. In emergencies, citizens can contact Police Helpline 15 or Rescue 1122.
