Punjab Approves Nine Mega Projects for Three Districts

Punjab plans to launch nine major development projects in the Faisalabad Division under the Punjab Development Program (PDP).

The projects will be completed at a cost of billions of rupees across three districts, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh.

Commissioner Faisalabad Division Raja Jahangir Anwar chaired a meeting to review the progress of the planned projects. He stressed the need to complete master plans, tendering, and the award of work without delay.

He directed that effective coordination be maintained among assistant commissioners, NESPAK, local government departments, and the project management unit.

The commissioner said that once the planning and award processes are completed, development work should begin in double shifts. He added that he would personally visit the concerned tehsils every week to review the implementation of the projects.

He said the chief minister has directed authorities to ensure the effective and speedy implementation of the Punjab Development Program. Therefore, he emphasized that deputy commissioners should treat the PDP as a top priority and closely monitor its execution.

In a separate meeting, Commissioner Anwar gave a one-week deadline for the installation of fire extinguishers in all multi-storey buildings.

He instructed Civil Defense and Rescue 1122 to issue notices to marquees, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, industrial units, housing societies, public offices, and educational institutions to ensure compliance.

He also directed that mock emergency drills be conducted at educational institutions to prepare for potential emergencies.

The commissioner warned that after one week, he, along with deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners, would conduct inspections. Non-compliance, he said, would result in fines and the sealing of buildings.
