Gold, Silver Prices in Pakistan Skyrocket to Unexpected Record High

Gold and silver prices in Pakistan increased on Monday, in line with the massive gains in the international market.

In the local market, the price of gold per tola rose to Rs. 532,062, marking a gain of Rs. 10,900 during the day.

Similarly, 10-gram gold was sold at Rs. 456,157, up by Rs. 9,345, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

On Saturday, gold per tola had reached Rs. 521,162 after an increase of Rs. 6,500 during the day.

The international gold rate surged past $ 5,000 per ounce, gaining $ 109 to reach $ 5,097 per ounce, with a $ 20 premium. Analysts said the rally was supported by safety flows amid dollar weakness, following a turbulent week in global markets marked by tensions over Greenland and Iran, while volatility in the yen kept investors cautious.

Meanwhile, silver prices in Pakistan also rose, increasing by Rs. 627 to reach Rs. 11,428 per tola.
