Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday inaugurated a state-of-the-art monitoring system at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports in Islamabad to oversee passport applications, printing, and overall performance.
During his visit, the minister launched the advanced system designed to provide real-time monitoring of passport operations across Pakistan and at overseas missions.
A 24/7 monitoring room and call center have also been made operational, while the emergency travel document system has been fully digitized.
Officials briefed the minister on the Secure Hybrid Intelligence for Knowledge-Based Response Analytics (SHIKRA) system, which enables close monitoring of every stage of the passport process from application submission to final delivery.
Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan’s passport system has now been aligned with international best practices, allowing authorities to track applications, deliveries, staff performance, and operational efficiency in real time.
He added that upgraded security features now meet ICAO standards, while automated German machinery and a fully automated printing process have eliminated human intervention.
The minister also inspected the e-monitoring room, call center, forensic lab, and production unit. Officials said the integrated digital dashboard will help monitor crowding, backlogs, and machinery status nationwide.
Senior officials, including the DG FIA, the DG Immigration and Passports, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, and the IG Islamabad Police, were present on the occasion.
