Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has taken notice of complaints regarding the non-crediting of electricity units for net metering consumers following instructions issued by the Power Planning and Monitoring Company (PPMC).
According to the Power Division’s tweet on X today, the instructions were immediately reviewed and the issue of crediting units for affected consumers was resolved.
According to the Power Division, some net metering consumers had installed solar systems with capacities exceeding the approved limit under their licenses. As a result, in some cases last month, no credit was given for the electricity supplied to the national grid.
The Power Division has clarified that completely withholding credit for such consumers was not the correct approach. Under the revised instructions, only the electricity units generated beyond the approved capacity will not be credited. Units supplied to the grid within the approved capacity will now be fully credited.
The Power Division has issued formal instructions to all power distribution companies (DISCOs) to implement the revised policy.
For consumers whose net metering units were not credited in their previous bills, the necessary adjustments will be made in the next billing cycle.
The federal minister reaffirmed that the government will ensure electricity consumers receive their legitimate rights and that no compromise will be made on fair treatment.

Sorry to say, our system is toothless. Once a step was taken in right direction why back track. Definitely people have installed large capacity system which hasnot only killed the sprit of residential solar system but financially hurt the power distribution companies. Why can’t we take a firm stand.

Great response,appreciated.
So power generation and feeding to the grid becoming a crime! Wow
The amount of excuses is staggering. If people have bigger systemthen house then that’s not an issue bcz it means additional electricity for them and everyone else.
What lame excuses.
useless ministers sitting on departments and providing more tatti services than there already is.
