DC Murree Announces Deadline for Mall Road Façade Up-Lift

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi on Wednesday directed the contractor to complete the Mall Road façade up-lift project by June 30, emphasizing that construction standards must not be compromised. He warned of strict action in case of any delay.

Accompanied by Director General of the Walled City Authority Lahore Najam Saqib, DC Shirazi conducted a detailed inspection of the project and received a briefing on its progress, quality, and timelines.

He also instructed lowering the height of walls at Nighat Zar Park at the request of traders to prevent any negative impact on business and tourism. The designated site for a new food street near Marhaba Chowk was also reviewed.

Both officials assured traders, including members of the Traders’ Association and Hotel Association, that their concerns would be addressed promptly. They highlighted the project’s role in promoting tourism and enhancing the city’s appearance, stressing consultation with all stakeholders.

The Mall Road façade up-lift project, overseen by the Walled City Authority Lahore, includes repainting shop facades and signboards, relocating overhead electric wires underground, and installing tuff tiles. Additional improvements include flower beds, greenery, and designated seating areas to enhance facilities for tourists.
