Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched an inquiry into the deteriorating condition of Raiwind Road to ensure construction quality and timely maintenance.
The move follows reports highlighting potholes, cracks, and uneven or missing tuff tiles along the road, which is regularly used by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Sources said the CM expressed concern over the road’s condition, prompting LDA DG Tahir Farooq to deputize Director P&D Hassan Gillani to inspect the site and hold the responsible contractor and LDA engineering officials accountable.
The inspection revealed gaps in the greenbelt, broken tiles, and unfinished stretches, raising concerns over the effectiveness of ongoing maintenance. The DG directed the responsible teams to submit a detailed report, identify shortcomings, and take immediate corrective action.
Separately, the DG emphasized strict fire safety measures across all LDA-controlled commercial and high-rise properties, including the installation of fire hydrants and smoke detectors, clearing emergency exits and basements, and conducting drills with Rescue 1122.
Non-compliant properties will face sealing, fines, and legal action, with compliance to be verified through digital surveys and geo-tagging within a month.
