As Pakistan prepares for Shab-e-Barat, uncertainty surrounds whether the day will be officially observed as a holiday this year.
The federal government has included it in the list of optional holidays for 2026, signaling a possibility, but no formal notification has been issued for offices, schools, or universities.
According to a report, the decision is still under review, leaving students, employees, and parents waiting for confirmation. Last year, Sindh announced a holiday for educational institutions, but no announcement has been made so far for this year.
Shab-e-Barat, which falls on the 15th night of Sha’ban, is an important religious occasion for Muslims, marked by prayers, repentance, and seeking forgiveness.
Special Quran recitations, seminars, and congregational prayers are held across mosques and religious centers nationwide to observe the night.
Definitely it should be observed as holiday so people can do fasting on this big day and do make themselves ready for Ramazan.
