Five Major Pakistani Airports to Get Bird Repellent Systems

Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced plans to procure bird repellent systems to enhance aviation safety and prevent incidents involving birds striking aircraft. The systems will be installed at major airports, including Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Faisalabad, and Multan.

Official confirmed that the initiative is currently under consideration and undergoing trials at one of the country’s major airports.

Bird strikes pose a significant risk to aviation safety, potentially causing damage to aircraft engines and fuselages during takeoff and landing. In recent years, airports in Pakistan have seen multiple incidents involving birds, prompting authorities to explore preventive technologies.

One notable incident occurred in December last year when a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Lahore experienced a bird strike during landing.

The strike took place just outside the Lahore Airport perimeter. The pilot immediately reported the incident to the Pakistan Airports Authority, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
