Following reports of Nipah virus cases in India, the Director General of Health Sindh has issued a precautionary advisory, directing health authorities to remain vigilant and implement preventive measures across the province.
According to the Sindh Health Department, officials are closely monitoring the regional situation. The advisory instructs all public and private hospitals to stay on high alert and strictly follow guidelines issued by the Federal Ministry of Health.
Health authorities have confirmed that no Nipah virus case has been reported in Pakistan so far.
The advisory describes the Nipah virus as a deadly zoonotic disease that can be transmitted to humans. Initial symptoms include fever, headache, cough, body aches, and vomiting.
Medical experts warn that the infection can progress to severe respiratory illness and encephalitis, a dangerous inflammation of the brain.
The Sindh Health Department urged hospitals to ensure early detection, proper reporting, and preparedness to prevent any potential outbreak.
