Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana chaired a high-level meeting to review security and safety arrangements for the peaceful celebration of Basant, directing authorities to enforce strict measures across the city.
The meeting reviewed security, regulatory, and safety plans to ensure orderly festival celebrations. The CCPO ordered officials to obtain surety bonds from rooftop owners and strictly enforce capacity limits, stating that overcrowding on rooftops would not be permitted.
He directed the strict implementation of the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Act 2025 and announced that motorcycles without safety rods would not be allowed on roads during Basant celebrations. Special police teams will monitor activities using human intelligence and modern technology.
Bilal Kamyana warned of zero tolerance for aerial firing, weapon display, hooliganism, and violations of the Punjab Sound System Act 2015, adding that strict legal action would be taken against violators. Police were also instructed to continue crackdowns on illegal kite flying and the use of metallic strings.
The CCPO further stressed that cultural festivities must respect religious, social, and moral values. Senior police and traffic officials, including DIGs, SSPs, and divisional SPs, attended the meeting to finalize arrangements.
