The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) approved a plan to retain the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) as a lean, right-sized centre of excellence to promote Brand Pakistan globally, strengthen tourism marketing, and serve as the country’s face to the world.
The CCoSOEs met at the Finance Division under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb today.
The committee approved the retention of PTDC’s core functions through a streamlined structure. The restructured entity will focus on tourism policy support, intergovernmental coordination, and marketing and brand development, with a rationalized staff strength and a revised board composition in line with governance requirements.
The committee directed the ministry to submit a separate proposal, in coordination with the Law Division, covering the funding of the proposed entity and the management of assets currently held under PTDC.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, who joined virtually, along with secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries, divisions and regulatory bodies.
