Govt to Send 8 Lac Pakistanis for Jobs Abroad

Pakistan is focusing on establishing reputable training institutions to equip its nationals with soft skills and pre-departure training for overseas employment, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain said during his visit to the UAE.

He emphasized that these programs will enhance the employability of Pakistani workers in the UAE and other countries, supporting the significant contribution of overseas Pakistanis in remittances.

Currently, around 10 million Pakistanis live abroad, with over 1.7 million residing in the UAE.

Salik Hussain toured the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai, reviewing consular services including passports, national identity cards, and community welfare.

He discussed the welfare of Pakistani nationals with Consul General Hussain Muhammad and emphasized smooth facilitation for expatriates.

The government plans to arrange jobs for 800,000 Pakistanis abroad in 2026, up from 740,000 in 2025. In January, Pakistan and the UAE agreed to launch a “pre-immigration clearance” system, with Karachi selected for the pilot program.

During his UAE visit, Salik Hussain also met with Rabab Abdullah Al-Osaimi, the Director-General of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), to enhance cooperation in the labour sector.

Pakistan expressed readiness to sign a Labour MoU with Kuwait and requested access to PAM’s portal to facilitate recruitment. Both sides agreed to institutionalize regular consultations to strengthen bilateral employment ties.
