Karachi Kings have confirmed the retention amounts for their four protected players ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) auction.
The Kings have retained Hasan Ali in the Platinum category for Rs. 3.76 crore, Abbas Afridi in Diamond for Rs. 3.06 crore, Khushdil Shah in Gold for Rs. 3.38 crore, and Saad Baig in the Emerging category for Rs. 60 lac.
The retentions were finalized from a broader pool of 16 Karachi Kings players placed across categories before the auction. The Platinum bracket included captain David Warner alongside Hasan Ali, while Abbas Afridi and Shan Masood featured in the Diamond category.
Karachi’s Gold list included several names such as Aamer Jamal, Irfan Khan Niazi, Mir Hamza, Zahid Mahmood, Omair bin Yousuf, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Arafat Minhas, while Mirza Mamoon Imtiaz was listed in Silver. In Emerging, Razaullah, Fawad Ali, and Saad Baig were included.
From these options, the franchise opted to keep Hasan Ali, Abbas Afridi, Khushdil Shah, and Saad Baig as its protected core going into the auction.
PSL 11 brings a major change in retention policy. In the first 10 seasons, franchises could retain up to eight players, but under the updated rules teams can now protect only four players across categories, raising the pressure on franchises to make tougher calls before the auction room opens.
The first-ever PSL player auction is scheduled for February 11, while the PSL 11 season will begin on March 26 and run until May 3.
