Pakistani boxer Usman Wazir has announced his next international fight, confirming that he will face Indian boxer Mahesh in Thailand as he aims for the 18th unbeaten win of his professional career.
The bout will mark Wazir’s 18th international appearance. Speaking ahead of the fight, the undefeated boxer said he is fully prepared and confident of extending his winning streak on the global stage.
Wazir said his objective is to secure another victory and further strengthen Pakistan’s presence in international boxing. He also urged fans and boxing supporters to continue backing him as he prepares for the challenge abroad.
The fight is expected to attract strong interest from boxing fans across the region. Wazir currently holds a perfect professional record of 17 wins, while Mahesh has 10 victories and 7 defeats.
Addressing criticism over the level of his opponents, Wazir rejected claims that he selects easy fights, saying such allegations are baseless. He explained that boxers face a mix of strong and less challenging opponents during their careers and added that some critics do not want to see him progress.
Wazir also explained that fights are often held in Thailand because hosting bouts there is more affordable, particularly for boxers with limited resources. He added that if given proper opportunities and facilities, he would prefer to compete in the United States or England.
Earlier, on August 31, 2025, Wazir won the WBC OPBF Silver Welterweight title after defeating experienced Indonesian boxer Ferdinandus at Bangkok’s World Siam Stadium.
The victory extended his record to 17-0, improved his world rankings, and marked a historic moment as Wazir became the first Pakistani boxer whose fight was broadcast live in 168 countries through one of the world’s largest boxing networks.
Nicknamed the “Asian Boy,” the Gilgit-Baltistan-born boxer has previously won the World Youth Title, Asian Title, and Middle East Title, earning widespread recognition for Pakistan on the international boxing circuit.
