The Zakat Department has approved the launch of a Widow Support Card to provide financial assistance to widows, with officials saying the program will be rolled out later this month.
Under the scheme, eligible widows will receive financial support from Zakat funds.
According to officials, each eligible widow will receive Rs100,000 through the support card. In addition, widows with one child will receive an extra Rs25,000, while those with two children will receive an additional Rs50,000 in assistance.
The Zakat Department has approved Rs4 billion for the welfare initiative, aimed at providing economic support to widows and their children and easing their financial difficulties.
