New PSL Franchise Rawalpindi Joins PSL 11

Islamabad United better watch out as Rawalpindi is finally getting its very own team for Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In a landmark PSL Auction, Rawalpindi has officially been announced as the third debutant franchise for PSL 11.

This seismic change comes after Walee Technologies successfully secured the rights to the league’s sixth franchise. In a move that prioritizes the massive cricket market of the twin cities, the new owners have confirmed they will not be continuing with the Multan Sultans identity.

Instead, they are pivoting north to launch a brand-new franchise representing Rawalpindi, effectively closing the chapter on the Sultans’ history to make room for a new legacy.

The entry of the Rawalpindi franchise wasn’t just a win for the fans, it was a historic financial milestone for the PCB. The tech giant clinched the rights with a staggering bid of Rs. 245 Crore, the highest valuation ever seen in the PSL.

With the Rawalpindi franchise confirmed, the league enters a high-octane era. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is set to become the battleground of the twin cities as Rawalpindi and Islamabad fans look to secure the bragging rights for this year’s PSL.

With so little time left for the PSL 11 Player Auction, it will be interesting to see who the new owners sign directly or retain.
