UAE Announces Fitrana, Fidyah and Kaffarah Rates for Ramadan 2026

The UAE Fatwa Council has announced official amounts for Zakat Al Fitr (Fitrana), Fidyah, and other Ramadan-related expiations (kaffarah) for 2026, following a market price assessment conducted with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism

Zakat Al Fitr, which financially able Muslims must pay before Eid prayers, has been set at 2.5 kilograms of rice per person, or its cash equivalent of Dh25, to allow assistance to reach eligible beneficiaries more efficiently.

For individuals unable to fast, Fidyah has been fixed at feeding one needy person with 3.25 kilograms of wheat or paying Dh20 per missed fast. The council also set Dh20 as the minimum cost of providing an iftar meal.

Kaffarah for deliberately breaking a fast during Ramadan has been set at Dh1,200, distributed among 60 needy people. Kaffarah for breaking an oath has been fixed at Dh200 for 10 beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Fidyah for violations committed during Hajj or Umrah has been set at Dh120, to be distributed among six beneficiaries.

The council emphasized that Zakat Al Fitr should be paid before Eid prayers and noted that paying it in cash is permissible and often more beneficial for recipients.

Authorities also urged residents to make payments through approved charities, including the Zakat Fund and Emirates Red Crescent.
